Don't just smell the difference, know the difference
We love candles just as much as you do, in fact, thats what lead us to creating our own. After years of buying big brand off-the-shelf candles, we were shocked to learn just how harmful those products are, and the potential health hazards we were bringing into our homes. That's why at Leaf & Stone we’re dedicated to crafting clean burning, natural, soy candles that provide a healthier alternative to candles made with lesser, second rate, more harmful materials.
The control of additives and compounds are not mandatory and therefore not regulated, and in the U.S. there are no mandatory federal labeling requirements for candles. This leads most major candle manufactures to cut costs by using cheaper, more harmful materials. Most off-the-shelf candles are made with a wax called paraffin—a petroleum byproduct—which releases carcinogens when burned. Additionally, many candles are scented with synthetic oils that release microscopic particles, known as phthalates, that have been linked to causing cancer and other health problems when inhaled. Some candle makers have also been known to use wicks constructed with lead or zinc cores, in order to help them remain erect in soft burning wax. Use of such metal cores releases five times the amount of lead and heavy metals considered hazardous for children and exceeds EPA pollution standards for outdoor air.
The best candles require the best ingredients, which is why our carefully curated ingredients are sourced from top American companies. Additionally, we believe quality begins with simplicity, which is why we only use three basic ingredients when crafting our candles. 100% soy wax made from American-grown soybeans, phthalate free perfume and essential oils, and lead/zinc free cotton braided wicks. You’ll never find any dyes, additives, or heavy metals in our candles. No petroleum, no preservatives, and no harsh chemicals, just peace of mind. This is our promise to you.
Hand Poured in Small Batches
Every Leaf & Stone candle is hand poured in small batches at our studio, located in North Carolina. Although hand pouring wax may result in minor cosmetic imperfections, it ensures a unique product that meets our quality of ingredients standards. With this level of control, we can guarantee meticulous craftsmanship at every step of the candle-making process with consistent results.
Our small batches and dedication to sourcing, crafting, and selling only the highest quality candles, will never be overshadowed by cutting costs, or taking short cuts to meet demand.
